JOSEPH STONE - WIDE RECEIVER
ON3 Industry Comparison (Lists all recruiting rankings)
OFFERS: LSU, Florida, Georgia, FSU, Texas, Michigan, OSU, essentially everyone
Jojo Stone is a bit hard to evaluate as he hasn’t played much in his senior year due to injury. Stone picked up a lot of big offers early on his high school career and it’s easy to see why. He has a well-rounded athletic profile with speed, quickness, and playmaking ability. Stone has played quarterback in the past and when UofL offered last year, a coach compared him to Tutu Atwell when I asked what position he would play.
Jeff Brohm has been able to excel with guys who can play in space and Stone is a guy that can do that. His highlights show that he can take a screen pass and make people miss for big yardage. He can also work in the middle of the field and run away from people after the catch.
UofL should not need to rely on young receivers this season but Stone could have a chance to get on the field in a reserve role in the slot. His long-term potential will be interesting to track as he wasn’t recruited heavily late in high school. This isn’t to say that he isn’t a good player, but it’s fair to wonder if he has peaked, athletically.
