Louisville may have received the best news its had all December when defensive standout Ashton Gillotte announced Thursday night that he’ll be returning to U of L for his senior season.

Gillotte broke the news on his social media channels, and did so with an A+ buildup.

A first team All-Atlantic Coast Conference honoree and the runner-up for the league’s Defensive Player of the Year award, Gillotte enters bowl season ranked eighth nationally in sacks with 11.0. Those 11 sacks have him currently sitting at No. 9 on the school’s all-time list. For the season, Gillotte has 45 tackles and 14.5 tackles for loss.

As of right now, three different outlets have named Gillotte as a Second Team All-American, and a fourth has given honorable mention All-American status.

I’m stating the obvious here, but this is massive, massive news for Louisville’s 2024 campaign.
