The Baltimore Ravens are signing former Louisville QB Malik Cunningham to their roster from the New England Patriots practice squad, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The move will reunite Cunningham with Ravens starting QB Lamar Jackson. Cunningham and Jackson were teammates at Louisville for one season in 2017 and have remained close ever since.

“I wanted to thank Mr Kraft and Coach Belichick for giving me opportunity to play with the Patriots,” Cunningham told Schefter. “I learned a lot from them. I want to be a coach one day, so I would take notes from coach Belichick because he’s one of the greatest of all time. I had great teammates in New England and built relationships that will last a lifetime. But I just feel like this is a good opportunity for me and I’m excited to be a Baltimore Raven.”

Cunningham appeared in one game for the Patriots this season, but logged no stats.

In addition to reuniting with Jackson, Cunningham’s move to Baltimore will give him an opportunity to experience the NFL Playoffs. Something his tenure with the 3-10 Patriots was not going to afford.
