Thoughts: While this may be a minor copout I feel as if I have covered Malik and my opinions about what he needs to do this year in multiple places. One of them was on the ‘Podcast Rebellion’ earlier this week, and I also touched on some of the offense working through him on the Q&A.
We all know what Malik needs to do. Get back to 2019 efficiency numbers while trying to replicate his passing/rushing numbers from 2020. If he can put up big numbers and remain extremely efficient (i.e. protect the football) then the Cards can expect some big things on that side of the football this year. If he continues to struggle with ball security or can’t find a reliable number one wideout then we could have some challenging games where Malik reverts back to trying to win games on his legs alone, and that likely will not work out well.
I did a little recap last year but just in case this is the last opportunity I get to cover Malik on the countdown let me say that it’s always a challenge trying to follow a ‘great’ but statistically speaking Malik is a Top 10 QB all-time at UofL without question. Let’s appreciate what he’s brought to the program in terms of production and leadership on top of his athleticism. A big thanks to
