Here is your weekly report on how the former Louisville Cardinals did in the NFL over the weekend. The Cards currently have 11 former players on active NFL rosters. After Monday night’s game, we fully turn our attention to week four, which includes Teddy Bridgewater vs Lamar Jackson. I don’t think we are ready for this.
Jaire Alexander
Cornerback
Green Bay Packers
Alexander started and had five tackles (four solo) and one interception for 30 yards. The Packers defeated the 49ers 30-28.
Season: Three games, 13 tackles (9 solo), one interception, three passes defended.
Tutu Atwell
Wide Receiver
Los Angeles Rams
Atwell subbed in at wide receiver but did not have a reception. He had one punt return for nine yards. The Rams beat the Bucs 34-24.
Season: Three games, two punt returns for nine yards, one fair catch.
Mekhi Becton
Offensive Tackle
New York Jets
Becton injured his knee in week one and is expected to miss another 3-7 weeks.
Teddy Bridgewater
Quarterback
Denver Broncos
Teddy started and completed 19 of 25 passes for 235 yards (long of 31 yards), no touchdowns and no interceptions. His QB rating was 104.6. He rushed four times for 24 yards (long of 13 yards). He was sacked two times for 12 yards. The Broncos defeated the Jets 26-0 and are now 3-0 on the season.
Season: Three games, 73/95 (76.8%) for 827 yards (long of 55 yards), four touchdowns, zero interceptions, sacked seven times, QB rating 116.4. 11 rushes for 44 yards (long of 13 yards).
Geron Christian
Offensive Line
Houston Texans
Christian did not play in a 24-9 loss to the Panthers.
Season: Has played in two of three games so far.
Dorian Etheridge
Linebacker
Atlanta Falcons
Etheridge subbed in at linebacker and had one assisted tackle in a 17-14 win over the Giants.
Season: Three games played, one tackle.
Jonathan Greenard
Defensive End
Houston Texans
Greenard started and had four tackles (two solo), one sack, one tackle for loss, and one forced fumble. The Texans lost to the Panthers 24-9.
Season: One game, see above stats.
Lamar Jackson
Quarterback
Baltimore Ravens
Lamar started and completed 16 of 31 passes for 287 yards (long of 41 yards), one touchdown, one interception, and a QB rating of 81.0. He rushed seven times for 58 yards (long of 31 yards). He was sacked four times for 16 yards and fumbled one time, but he recovered it. The Ravens defeated the Lions 19-17.
Per Kelly Dickey, the best QB record in their first 40 NFL Starts: Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, Kurt Warner, and Dan Marino all started 32-8.
Season: Three games, 53/87 (60.9%) for 761 yards, three touchdowns, three interceptions (long of 49 yards), sacked eight times, QB rating 86.4. 35 rushing attempts for 251 yards (long of 31 yards), two touchdowns.
John Miller
Offensive Line
Carolina Panthers
Miller started at guard in a 24-9 win over the Texans.
Season: Miller has started in all three games this season.
DeVante Parker
Wide Receiver
Miami Dolphins
Parker started and had four receptions for 42 yards (long of 15 yards). The Dolphins lost 31-28 in overtime to the Raiders.
Season: Three games, 23 targets, 13 receptions for 165 yards (long of 30 yards).
Sheldon Rankins
Defensive Line
New York Jets
Rankins subbed in on the defensive line and had one QB hit. The hit was on Teddy Bridgewater so I don’t like that Rankins was playing so hard. I kid. He did not hurt Teddy so we are good.
Season: Three games, two tackles (one solo), one sack, one fumble recovery.
