Mike Rutherford is Returning to Local Sports Radio on Aug. 16

After a year and-a-half on the sidelines that may as well have been a decade and-a-half, I’m pretty excited to announce that I’m coming back to local sports radio full-time beginning next week.

“The Mike Rutherford Show” (we’re going to have a contest to come up with a better name) will air every Monday-Friday from 3-6 p.m. on Big X Sports Radio, 1450AM/96.1FM.

As has been the case every time I’ve made one of these announcements before, I don’t really have any sort of pitch here. I’m certainly still far from a “polished, lifelong radio professional,” and I’m still not a dude willing to say crazy shit in a loud voice simply to generate a reaction. I’m just a massive Louisville sports fan who likes to make jokes and talk about the Cardinals. So I will, again, be a massive Louisville sports fan who makes jokes and talks about the Cardinals on the radio.

Will I get in even more trouble this go-round for saying “ass” too many times on the radio? It’s anyone’s guess. We’ll all have to find out together.

Also, for those who have already inquired, the podcast isn’t going anywhere. In fact, there’s some cool podcast news that should also be coming out in the very near future.

Anyway, tune in starting next week as we get ready to tackle what I think will be, without question, one of the more consequential U of L athletic seasons in recent memory.
