The Dallas Mavericks announced Saturday afternoon the signings of three rookie free agents, including Louisville’s Carlik Jones.

This means that Jones will be one of the 20 players who will be members of the Mavericks’ training camp roster. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it was almost certainly an Exhibit 10 contract.

Jones was spectacular in his first and only season at Louisville. The graduate transfer from Radford earned First Team All-ACC honors and was the runner-up for the ACC Player of the Year award. He was the only player in the ACC to rank among the top six in scoring (16.8 ppg, 6th in the ACC), assists (4.5 apg, 4th), assists/turnovers ratio (2.18, 4th) and free throw percentage (.815, 3rd).

Though he went unselected in the 2021 NBA draft, Jones played for Dallas in the NBA Summer League and was a standout. In his final game of the summer, Jones posted a game-high 21 points to go along with six rebounds and five assists.

Best of luck to Carlik at Mavs training camp. Keep proving everyone wrong.
