#26 Kani Walker
Class: Freshman
Ht/Wt: 6-1/175
Position: Defensive Back
Hometown: Suwanee, GA
Twitter: @KaniWalker_
Thoughts: Kani was a nice steal from Boston College last year as Walker was committed to the Golden Eagles and then evidently realized “I’m gonna play football for Boston College?” and came to his senses. No disrespect to Boston College of course, because I’m contractually obligated to say that.
Walker looked fine when I watched the film below and some other Hudl clips but he just looks a little raw to me, as one would expect from a true freshman coming into the program. His length is a major selling factor and will help him get out of trouble a lot. I saw he played a little corner and a little wideout in high school but it also looked like they dropped him back in “center field” on occasion likely due to his ability to cover larger areas not only due to his height but also his speed. On the summer depth chart Kani is a backup on the two deep at corner behind Chandler Jones with fellow freshman Derrick Edwards. Even being in that position this early is encouraging to me as I think Coach Brown is really excited about his young secondary and what he can get from these guys in the next couple seasons. If Jones and Clark play “lockdown” defense and we don’t get to see as much from the younger Edwards, Walker, and Greedy lets take that as a good sign moving forward and let them get their feet week on occasion rather than tossing them in the fire.
Sweet Tweet:
Hungry...
— N I (@KaniWalker_) February 9, 2021
My post-COVID body is always ‘hungry’ Kani. Those extra 15-20lb are fighting that virus with a one-two combo and then a surprise “ordering takeout again” uppercut. Corona don’t know what hit ‘em. But to keep this weight up I have to hit up the best spots, so now is when you let me and Kani know in the comments where we should be eating both locally (Louisville) and on road trips this year. First game is in Atlanta….I hear they have a few spots to grab a bite. Let us know.
