—Vince Tyra remains confident in the abilities of Scott Satterfield.

“Family wise, Beth (Satterfield) and the kids have adapted, they’ve gone through the transition,” Tyra said. “I know he sees what’s going on in the program and he likes it. He likes his staff right now and he’s building a new house too and trying to lay down roots. We aren’t talking about a year, we are talking a longer period.”

Satterfield, who is entering his third season as Louisville’s head coach, took heat from fans in December when rumors began to swirl that he was interviewing for the South Carolina job. He told the Courier Journal, just as the rumors hit a peak, that he had a “conversation,” but wanted to stay at Louisville and was committed to the Cardinals.

Since that day, Satterfield went on to issue a statement to fans reaffirming his commitment and followed that by beating Wake Forest 45-21 to end the season. Since then, Tyra said the two have talked through the entire situation and have a good relationship.

“I think it’s hard for coaches to be around an AD that shoots them straight and is maybe as direct as I am, but that’s just my style. I’m comfortable with confrontation and dealing with issues,” Tyra said. “I think it was good for us to get to talk about a lot of things, air some things out. It was new for him, he has a great agent in Jimmy Sexton representing him who is going to be aggressive on his behalf, but it’s a thing where he has to sort out himself his relationship with his agent and where does that start and stop. We’ve had good discussions about that.”

I am beyond tired of hearing about this new house that will apparently take seven years to build. Win some football games. If you do that and then decide you want to head somewhere else, we’ll be ok. We’ve done this like 15 times.
