Thoughts: The respectable Dr. Dorsey will see you now….making his sixth appearance on ‘The Cardinal Countdown’ and also in the Cardinal uniform, the first local young man of the countdown this year just so happens to be a long time friend of the program. Since it’s been a minute or two since he walked in the recap on Dorsey was that he joined the squad in 2016, took a redshirt, and has then been a consistent contributor ever since. Making an appearance in nearly every game he’s been eligible (minus injuries and COVID) Dorsey has already played a snap in over 45 games in his career, and this extra year of eligibility will likely push him over 55 total before he hangs up the cleats, meaning he would potentially go down as the player who has made the most appearances EVER in the red & black.

While Dorsey will see a fair share of playing time this year in my guesstimate, there is some real talent on the defensive line and he may not get the starts you would expect from a “sixth year” Senior, but that doesn’t mean his role is any less significant. Dorsey didn’t decide to come back and play to just hang out for a year and he will push for reps up front behind Peterson and Yaya who I think are your bona fide starters at the ends right now. Dorsey has always had good size and physicality and I see him as a solid situational player in 2021. Welcome back to the squad….again, Derek. Don’t let those youngbloods tease you about being the old man in the room, you played with Lamar, Jaire….tell ‘em to put some respect on your name. Enjoy your final ride, young man.

Sweet Tweet:

I know this is almost a couple years old now and has already made the rounds but I’m still trying to determine if this is awesome or insanity…or a bit of both. Definitely want passionate coaches but maybe not guys that headbutt helmets. A different breed for sure.
