Longtime (and short-term too, I guess) fans of the site should have a pretty good handle on how I feel about recruiting. I recognize its significance and am fine with diving into a kid’s highlights once he commits or signs, but living and dying with every “prospect visits U of L, likes U of L, and could be a really good player” story just isn’t a lifestyle for me.
There are exceptions.
Exactly ten years ago this month, the Chicken Knowles Movement started. This was also the era of Bryce Cotton, DeMar Dorsey and a few other available players whose daily movements became must-track events around these parts.
We just may have ourselves a new Card Chronicle must-have recruit.
Gus Yalden, a four-star class of 2023 power forward from IMG Academy, received a scholarship offer from Chris Mack on Thursday morning. Here are five reasons why that should excite you:
1. His name is Gus
2. His Twitter handle is “@GusBus2023”
3. He looks immaculate in a Louisville uniform
Excited to share that after an amazing unofficial visit to @LouisvilleMBB I received a scholarship offer from @CoachChrisMack Thank you @KahilFennell @RossMcMains and the rest of the Louisville basketball fam! #GoCards ⚫️ pic.twitter.com/1AadNYbJ9r

4. He’s the No. 32 player in the 247 Sports composite rankings for the 2023 class
5. These highlights:

I mean my guy couldn’t look more like a younger Knocked Up-era Jason Segal out there on the court, which is precisely the image I want presented by my future power forward:

The return to glory for Louisville basketball begins with Gus Yalden.
Hop on the Gus Bus with me, everyone. The final stop is a national championship.
