Thoughts: Louisville went after Gunn pretty early in the recruiting process and this time it paid off well. Back on March 17th, 2020 Gunn had seen enough and went full Jon Taffer on his recruitment...“I’m shutting it down, now!” In the strange world of recruiting that could mean nothing, but this time he was for real, and Gunn was the first name to sign on the dotted line and commit to the Cards back in December, beating out UK, Michigan State, West Virginia, and others.
Gunn, a 3 star recruit and a Top 40 guard nationally, did not end up enrolling early which I think worked out well for him as he got to be a part of a 1A Championship Baseball team just a couple weeks ago. Aaron and his fellow seniors went out on top and the young man made some memories that will last a lifetime I’m sure. So when summer rolls around and Gunn lands on campus he may be slightly behind some of the early enrollees but could still put himself in a spot to make moves in the fall. Gunn played mostly at guard in high school and although he isn’t massive by O-line standards he has good strength and impressive speed when he pulls or releases downfield. Check out some clips of his senior season here:
I wouldn’t be shocked if the Cards dropped a redshirt on Gunn but for me it’s too early to tell how he will mesh with the group, although it’s tough to see him cracking in over Chandler or beating out the Boone/Hudson combo. With that said, I think Gunn is a solid long term play for this unit who finally has some depth building up and can start being an impressive piece of the offense in seasons to come.

I don’t know this to be true and I may be completely wrong in my analysis, but Aaron looks like a dude who just smashes dingers like he’s playing rec league softball. #GunnShow
