Thoughts: Cards picked up a solid “Power 5” wideout in Demetrius Cannon straight from “Nellyville…where all new borns get half a mill”. Cannon had multiple P5 offers and Gunter ‘flatbill’ Brewer himself swooped in and sealed the deal with Cannon.
Cannon has good size and good speed for his frame. When watching the highlight tape below from his Junior season I was really glad to see that they didn’t just throw him outside and toss him jump balls all game, as they used his athleticism in screens, bubbles, sweeps, and even highlighted some of his blocking ability. I was impressed with what I saw and from what I’ve heard so far he may have a solid chance at seeing the field year one.
While I think right now, 80 days out, that Smith, Marshall, and Watkins are your Top 3 in the room, there are a couple players, like Cannon, who could fight their way into the thick of the rotation early on. Without a Hawkins to lean on heavily we may see the run/pass split sneak back into the 55-45 range, and that means more balls to go around.
Sweet Tweet:
i just want to play football

Many young men such as Cannon had to worry through the summer if they were even going to even get a Senior season of football, similar to us counting down days to a season that had the potential to not even happen last year. Thankful to get back to a new normal and look forward to Saturdays in the fall being the absolute best once again.
