Thoughts: Back in January of this year the Cards did something that very well may become an annual tradition as they peeked around the state, looked for some mid-range local prospects who may or may not have officially entered the transfer portal, and scooped up a few folks who could help provide some depth for various groups on the team. One of those pickups was Jaelin Carter from EKU, a Louisville kid who spent three seasons over in Richmond and was looking for a new opportunity when the Cards came calling.

Jaelin is coming to Louisville having been a decent contributor for the Colonels, after opting out in 2020 he will finish his career there with 37 receptions, 449 receiving yards, and 5 touchdowns. That doesn’t include his contributions in the ground game or on special teams where he was a primary return man in 2018. While Louisville lost a couple draft picks in Tutu and Dez the room is still stocked better than the household cleaner isle at your grocery store with some solid upperclassmen and a couple freshman I really like as well. My best guess 88 days out is that Jaelin is a solid piece of the practice squad and will likely get some situational reps this year either at wideout or on special teams with an opportunity to step into a bigger spot.

When Jaelin steps on the field at Cardinal Stadium this year it won’t be his first appearance as he was on the Colonel squad that got roasted in ‘The Oven’ 42-0 back in 2019. Let’s hope Jaelin is on the other side of some blowouts this season.

Sweet Tweet:

While at Manual Jaelin went full ‘OBJ’ on what appears to be a poor Central High DB. Incredible catch, incredible photo.
