The top-seeded Louisville women’s basketball team will open its postseason against a Wake Forest team that nearly upset them back in January.
The ninth-seeded Demon Deacons earned their spot in the tournament quarterfinals by virtue of an 82-71 win over North Carolina Thursday afternoon in Greensboro.
When the two teams squared off in Winston-Salem on Jan. 24, Wake Forest appeared poised to pull off what would have been the biggest upset of the ACC season. Then, eventual league Player of the Year Dana Evans took things into her own hands in the closing seconds.
Down one with 16 seconds to play. Dana Evans with and-1 to put Cards up 65-63. Wake final shot misses.
