If Louisville is able to find its footing and take care of Notre Dame Tuesday night, it will have done so without the services of one of its best players.
Cardinal point guard David Johnson is out for the game against the Fighting Irish, leaving the U of L backcourt extremely shorthanded. No reason for Johnson’s absence has been given by U of L, but sources tell Card Chronicle that the issue is a “non Covid-related illness.”
Sophomore center Aidan Igiehon and sophomore guard Josh Nickelberry are also out once again for Louisville.
Johnson averages 12.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game, and is the only Cardinal currently shooting better than 30.0 percent from behind the three-point line.
It’s time for some guys who have been playing mostly supporting cast roles to step up and be stars if this season is going to be saved.
Get the win, and then hopefully get DJ back for Saturday.
