Louisville Takes Down Boston College 89-70

There were times it seemed like the Cards were going to easily run away with the game, but there were also times the Cards got sluggish so Boston College was still in striking distance into the 3rd quarter. However, sometimes the difference is you have Dana Evans and they don’t. She scored 17 of her 24 points in the second half and swung the momentum definitively in favor of the Cards.

All the starters for Louisville finished the game scoring in double figures. Hailey Van Lith and Kianna Smith both had 13 (and both got a bit dinged up), Olivia Cochran had 17 points and 7 rebounds. Elizabeth Balogun had 11 points.

After the game Coach Walz said, “I thought the first quarter we were outstanding.... and then in the second offensively we just got completely disjointed. We weren’t looking for that and one pass like we did in the first quarter.” He praised how they started offensively in the third quarter but said, “then defensively we went right in the shitter.” He added, “We’re better than what we’re playing.”

He said that Hailey dislocated her finger and Kianna sprained her ankle but “she x-rayed and everything came back good so now it’s just a matter of trying to get that swelling out of there.”

Next up the Cards will meet the last team who beat them and one who always seems to give them fits— Florida State. The game is at 3:00 on Sunday and can be seen on ESPN.
