#8 Henry Bryant III

Class: Freshman

Ht/Wt: 5-11/275

Position: Defensive Line

Hometown: Delray, FL

Twitter: @HenryBryantIII1

Thoughts: Bryant was an early commit to the Cards during the recruiting cycle but someone they had to fight for late in the process as numerous Power 5 programs were chasing after him. The Cards held off the likes of West Virginia, Pitt, and Syracuse but the real threat was from NC State late in the process. While there are a multitude of things that are factored into the decision one of those was absolutely the chance for early PT.

As we know the defensive line was left a bit depleted losing both Caban and Robinson, starters from the 2019 squad. Bryant is a bit shorter than you might expect to see from an ACC lineman but throws around his 275 pretty well, and I anticipate the staff will push him to put on a bit more weight this season, moving from chunk to muscle (‘chunk’ in the most endearing way possible, Henry).

Take a look at the tape below and watch Bryant toss some guys all the way from Delray up to Boyton Beach. As I mentioned above I think Henry has a shot at getting into the rotation this year, especially when he’s not losing a season of eligibility, and putting his name in the hat for earning a starting job as soon as 2021.

Sweet Tweet:

Henry talks about his commitment and reinforces the relationships with the staff was key. If you think all that hype last year about “family” and the players connecting with this staff was just lip service this is first hand evidence that those things matter to 17 and 18 year olds planning out their futures.
