Sports back! Sort of.

In what felt like the first sort of nationally televised Louisville sporting event in four months, Ryan McMahon buried four three-pointers Wednesday afternoon to lead Red Scare past Big X in the TBT round of 16.

Here are highlights from the contest, which featured the 4,000th telling of the Dick Vitale getting McMahon to Louisville story:

McMahon and Red Scare now move onto the quarterfinals, where they’ll face 16-seed House of Paign, which upset top-seeded and defending champion Carmen’s Crew. That game will tip-off at 4 p.m. and will be televised by ESPN.

I’m not going to lie, it felt wonderful but also a little strange watching a live sporting event with a strong rooting interest again. Every time Ryan splashed a three or celebrated like a mad man on the bench, I was reminded of the fact that we never got any sort of closure to his Cardinal career, and that this fact will never change. It sucked then, it sucks now, it’s always going to suck.

What doesn’t suck is being able to watch the Sarasota sharpshooter do his thing again Friday afternoon/evening. Should be a nice way to kick off the weekend.
