#35 Zay Peterson
Hometown: Bradenton, FL
Thoughts: I’m excited to see what the Cards get out of Zay Peterson over the next 3-4 years. He had a solid offer sheet (Tennessee, Va Tech, Pitt, UCF, etc) coming out of high school but it seemed like the Cards may have grabbed a good one who was a bit under the radar during his recruitment . I remember during his commitment reading a synopsis from Keith Wynne comparing him to Calvin Pryor and thought that was a fairly lofty comparison, then I watched him for two minutes and I saw why he had the offers and agree, he very well may be “Hitstick 2.0”
While I won’t pretend to know the inter-workings of the staff or their thought process it sounds like Peterson may be laying in wait to get a shot at playing the ‘Card’ position after the departure of Rodjay Burns. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him get some snaps this year but stay under the redshirt limit so they can use him all four seasons if possible. While I have no inside info I think the departure of PJ Blue also leans into that same conclusion. JUCO addition Marvin Dallas is the logical backup at this point but since he only has a couple seasons of eligibility, I see Zay as the long-term play at that spot. A guy with good speed, good coverage skills, and who loves to ragdoll people in open space. Sign me up.

Where were the personalized training videos when I was in college? You all missed out on seeing a nice video montage of me moving boxes at UPS, taking night classes, eating fast food in my car, getting very little sleep, and enjoying a diet soda or two on the weekends. All set over a little Hall & Oates ‘Private Eyes’ track. It would have killed.
