Louisville’s recruiting class got a major boost today when Ahmari Huggins-Bruce announced that he was committing to the Cards. Huggins-Bruce is a three star Wide Receiver from South Carolina that Gunter Brewer offered a few months after he joined the staff at UofL. Louisville was able to get Huggins-Bruce over offers from Virginia Tech, Pitt, NC State, TCU, USC, and a handful of other power five offers.
Tutu Atwell had a monster season for Louisville last year and it appears that his production has helped Louisville land his potential replacement. Huggins-Bruce plays some slot for his high school team as well as being an outside receiver. He lists himself at 6-1/170 and he is an electric player in the open field. While Tutu has been able to beat people with his pure speed, Huggins-Bruce has shown a great ability to make people miss as well as run by them. I can honestly say that I don’t know why he isn’t a higher regarded prospect.
Louisville has done a very good job at taking advantage of the high level of production and development that we saw from the offense last year. Trevion Cooley is one of the top running backs in the country and he will be in line to replace a very productive Javian Hawkins. Huggins-Bruce will have an opportunity to see the field if Tutu Atwell leaves early even with Braden Smith being a favorite of the coaching staff. Louisville needs to replace talent with talent for this program to take the next step. They’ve definitely done that on the offensive side of the ball in this class.
