Thoughts: Lawson was a nice pickup for the Cards this past recruiting cycle as Ledford was looking to find his next tackle in waiting, knowing Haycraft was graduating and that he may lose Becton to the draft. Lawson played a little guard and tackle in high school but is projecting into the tackle spot from the Coach’s comments and his limited time on campus so far. The staff went and grabbed some experience in the same class on the outside of the line pulling in Trevor Reid (Georgia Military) and grad transfer Cam DeGeorge which may be the best situation for Lawson as he won’t be thrust into the position and be expected to contribute immediately. Lawson has the size and the athleticism to fit really well in the Ledford scheme and his future opportunities in the program was a big selling point, but according to him it was the family feeling that finally sold him on Louisville over in conference foes UNC and NC State.

In the film below you see there are a few areas where Lawson is a bit raw but there are also some areas you can see the potential for Tim to be a really good player along the line. A few snaps into the video you see him extend his arm and “punch” that chest plate of the end, knocking him off balance and killing his momentum. In other plays you see him use his upper body strength to just move guys out of the way, overpowering people. Ledford will get him stronger, improve his technique, and turn him into another good one in his time here.

Sweet Tweet:

For those who don’t know Coach Ledford is a pretty big dude, and high school senior Lawson looks equally as big before stepping a single foot into the Louisville weight room or nutrition program. Lawson will be a long time contributor for the Cards, I can feel it.
