Thoughts: Not even sure where to begin with Mr. Ford. I absolutely love this guy. I was a card carrying member of the MMFC (Micky Crum Fan Club), so if you told me less than two seasons latter we would not only have a tight end that surpasses my praise for Crum but a tight end that is actually wearing the number 83 as well, I simply would not have believed you.
Ford burst onto the scene last year in Spring ball but made his presence known to non-fanatics Week 1 against Notre Dame, making a couple big catches and throwing down a block or five for Hawkins. About two-thirds of the way through the season last year I did a quick highlight piece on the H-back position, but Ford specifically, and some of the things he did weekly to help generate additional offense. It would be really cool if you went back and read it again as it covers a lot of the thoughts I still have about him today. You can find it here.
For the 2020 season my outlook for Ford is likely unreasonable and unattainable, but somehow feel as if Ford can still get there, because he’s just that good. After I wrote the post above calling for Ford to be more of a threat in the passing game Ford just so happened to get three catches in three straight games (I see you sneaking a peak at the post Satterfield, appreciate the views Coach). Ford finished 2019 with seven TDs, good enough for 1st in the ACC and fourth nationally for his position, but I think he can grab even more as teams key on Hawkins and our bigger wideouts. His blocking is key, but I believe he helps propel Louisville into a Top 15 offense in 2020, adding another weapon to an expanded playbook.
At this point, with only one full season in the books for Ford I don’t think renaming my infant son is on the table but naming our next dog Marshy or Mr. Ford is certainly in play…my wife just doesn’t know about it yet.
Sweet Tweet: Marshon retweets a lot, and this was one of those….DeVante Parker sprinkling Card head diamonds on a necklace like he’s Salt Bae or something. I’m not a big necklace guy personally, but I’d wear this around town like I was 2 Chainz pale cousin.
