In what was the oldest moment of my life, Terrance Williams’ son announced that he was committing to Scott Satterfield and his staff to play football for Louisville. Williams is a composite four star Safety/Outside Linebacker from Washington. Cort Dennison extended an offer three months ago and Williams decided to add to the nice run the staff is having, today.
Louisville has an obvious need to upgrade the talent level on defense while also filling some holes due to graduation. Williams should provide immediate depth and versatility and he’s the type of talent who will push the guys in front of him. This staff needs guys who will come in and compete for playing time. That forces guys ahead of them to work harder to keep their spot which is something that’s been missing with the program, in my opinion.
It doesn’t take long to see the athleticism that Williams possesses. He high points the football as a deep safety and he shows solid bend when he rushes the passer off the edge. Though he is listed as a safety and a linebacker by the recruiting sites, he projects at outside linebacker for Louisville. He has a great frame to add good weight and he has the length to play the “Dog” position” and the coverage skills to play “Card”. He’s truly a guy that you bring in and figure out where to put him once you get him out on the practice field.
The staff is upgrading the profile of the players they are landing. Are they more talented? That remains to be seen. But when you look at the totality of their profiles, these players in the class tend to have the offers, the ratings, and the measurables. Hard not to be happy with the start the staff has had.
