Scott Satterfield and his staff got a commitment at a position of need today when Ryheem Craig announced he was joining the 2021 class. Craig is a three star defensive end from North Carolina with offers from BC, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Syracuse, and Tennessee. Mark Ivey was the primary recruiter here with Gunter Brewer as his secondary.

Louisville will be getting a high-motor edge rusher in Craig. He plays in a system in high school that uses three down linemen so it should help his transition to Bryan Brown’s system. Craig also has a very nice frame that should be easy to add weight to. He is listed at 6-3/220 but I would imagine they could add 30+ pounds to his long frame.

Craig finished his junior year with 89 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles. That’s a really productive season for a guy who played with his hand in the dirt. He made plays rushing outside and did well on some snaps in his highlights where he played inside. To me, he projects as a player that will add size while also keeping his athleticism. Yaya Diaby is a guy that was able to do that at JUCO. That’s a positive when it comes to development. Guys that haven’t hit their ceiling should get to campus and improve with coaching and physical development.
