Louisville’s football staff got their 2021 recruiting class going today with a commitment from offensive lineman, Aaron Gunn. Dwayne Ledford offered Gunn back in October when he visited for the Boston College game. Since then, Gunn has made two more trips to campus and still has an opportunity to take an official visit.
Kentucky, Michigan State, and West Virginia are the other top schools looking to land Gunn with Penn State and Pitt getting multiple visits but not extending an offer. Gunn lists himself at 6-4/306 and a guard/center. He played both last season when he was named first team all-state.
Ledford seems to have a type when it comes to the players that he has offered this cycle and Gunn probably grabbed his attention with the quickness he shows when pulling. Gunn gets out of his stance quickly and does a great job getting his hips around to square up with his block. He also shows a great ability to drive guys out of the play in space. Those two things have been featured in the highlights of every recruit I’ve watched.
While I’m a bit concerned about how things could change if PSU or Pitt offer, Louisville did a great job getting this kid on campus three times in six months. They’re ahead of everyone and that’s why they landed him. Let’s hope that it also helps them keep him.
