Just hours after league commissioner John Swofford announced that the show would go on, the final three rounds of the 2020 ACC basketball tournament have been canceled.

Here’s the statement:

“Following additional consultation with the league’s presidents and athletic directors, and in light of the continued conversations surrounding COVID-19, the Atlantic Coast Conference will immediately cancel the remainder of the 2020 ACC tournament. For NCAA tournament automatic qualification purposes, Florida State will represent the league as ACC champion. We are disappointed for our student-athletes, schools and fans to have to make this decision; however, the overall health and safety of all involved is the priority.”

The ACC follows in line with the Big 10, Big 12, Pac-12, SEC, Atlantic 10, Conference USA and others in canceling the remainders of their tournaments. As of the time of this writing, the Big East’s quarterfinal game between Creighton and St. John’s is being played in front of a limited crowd inside Madison Square Garden.

Now we all wait for word on what happens with the NCAA tournament.

This is the worst.
