Dre ... week?

Louisville freshman forward Dre Davis has been named the ACC Men’s Basketball Freshman of the Week for games played Nov. 30-Dec. 6.

Davis was the star of U of L’s 75-54 victory over Western Kentucky last week, scoring a game-high 21 points and adding two rebounds and two assists while connecting on 7-of-9 shots from the field. His 21 points are the most scored by a Cardinal this season and the most by a Louisville freshman since V.J. King scored 24 at Virginia in 2017.

Coupled with the 20 points and nine rebounds redshirt freshman Jae’Lyn Withers scored in the previous game against Prairie View A&M, it is the first time in Louisville historythat different freshmen scored 20 or more points in back-to-back games.

Davis is currently Cardinals second-leading scorer at 12.3 ppg, and is shooting 55.2 percent from the field. The Indianapolis native is also averaging 4.0 rebounds per game and has blocked a team-high four shots. He’s the first Louisville player to earn the honor since David Johnson on Jan. 20, 2020.

Congrats to Dre.

The overall ACC Player of the Week, for those wondering, is Georgia Tech’s Moses Wright, who scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a dominant Yellow Jacket win over Kentucky on Sunday.

Just thought I’d include that for the sake of journalistic integrity.
