Scott Satterfield says he’s staying at Louisville

Now, the healing process needs to begin.

After denying he had interest in the South Carolina job two weeks ago and then meeting with USC’s athletic director on Friday, Scott Satterfield told the Courier Journal’s Cameron Teague Robinson Saturday afternoon that he has “no intention of leaving Louisville.”

Satterfield did confirm that he met with South Carolina athletic director Ray Tanner on Friday in Bowling Green, but described the meeting as a “conversation” and not an interview.

Conversation, interview, whatever. The fact of the matter is Satterfield went out of his way to talk to South Carolina’s athletic director about a job that he led his team fan base to believe that he had no interest in just a couple of weeks ago. That’s not going to go over well anywhere, but it’s particularly going to be an issue when you’re dealing with a fan base that’s as (understandably) sensitive to this sort of thing as Louisville’s is.

A difficult healing process starts now.
