Evaluation:

Edwards is underrated as a recruit because he played on a super stacked defense at Miami Palmetto up until his senior year. He may have been overlooked as there were a couple of five stars on that defense that took the spotlight away. I think he showed great versatility while he was there as he played all over the secondary and he made plays.

UofL wants long athletes and Edwards has very long arms and a good frame. He uses his length to go after the football in coverage and he can play aggressive man coverage while keeping space from the receiver because of his length.

Summary:

I pre-wrote a commitment story for Edwards in March when he was expected to make his announcement. I ended up deleting it the day before he finally made his pledge because I just figured it would never happen. He took his time but once the class started filling up, Edwards made the choice to make sure he had a spot in the class. Frank Ponce knows south Florida better than anyone on the staff and he led the way with this recruitment.
