Evaluation:
It’s hard not to see an audition tape for the H-Back position when you watch Pedersen’s highlights. The offensive system he plays in is very similar to UofL’s and he looks the part in the offense. Pedersen is a big player with long limbs which will obviously help him as a blocker but I also think it will help him make contested catches in short yardage.
It will be interesting to see if Pedersen becomes the first player who can play both Tight End spots for UofL. Scott Satterfield has said that he wants them to be interchangeable. While I think he will be great for the H-Back spot, he has the length and size to block at the “Y” spot. I also have some questions about his speed and quickness in tight areas. It’s a good problem to have, though.
Summary:
Virginia seemed to be the early favorite for Pedersen but he seems to have really enjoyed his visit to Louisville this summer during a time when schools could only meet virtually. Pedersen didn’t mind traveling across the country for school and the campus and city apparently made an impression on him. Stu Holt has recruited Tight Ends all over the country and he did a good job here to lure a west coast guy to Louisville.
From Junipero Serra to , welcome @ChristianPed87!
