Evaluation:
Some have wondered if Lewis will switch positions at Louisville but I’ve been impressed with his passing ability in his highlights. He’s by no means a polished passer but he has good mechanics and a good throwing motion and it really stands out that he can drop the ball in the bucket down the field. He also shows a good ability to put pace on the ball on intermediate throws. I don’t think he can come in and play right away as a pocket passer but he has a good base to start with.
The athleticism and speed that Lewis shows off is really great. He can make people miss in tight spaces but when he gets out into space he can really take off. He’s strong enough to shed arm tackles and can use a stiff arm to fight for more yards. I would love to see him utilized as a package Quarterback in short yardage situations early on at UofL. I think his skillset makes him an asset.
Summary:
Louisville cast a wide net for a Quarterback in this class but missed on a few guys. Lewis got his offer somewhat late in the process but took his time before pulling the trigger in August. Frank Ponce led the way in his recruitment with Derek Nicholson as the area recruiter.
From Glynn Academy to , welcome @__TjLewis!
