Evaluation:

Hamilton is a bit on the short side at 6-1 but he does have long limbs and great closing speed. Louisville’s scheme wants the Inside Linebackers to get downhill in a hurry as well as being able to chase down plays on the edges. Hamilton shows a great ability to close down space and make strong tackles in one-on-one situations. How much bulk he can add to be able to handle blockers is a question that remains open at this point.

One aspect to Hamilton’s game that should help him see the field is his ability to cover in the passing game. Louisville has struggled mightily at defending the pass in the middle of the field and adding players who can potentially help in that area is important.

Summary:

Hamilton had an interesting recruitment as he was initially offered by Bryan Brown but Derek Nicholson took over once he was hired and UofL became a real contender for him. Hamilton was being recruited as an Outside Linebacker by some schools but Louisville saw him as a weak side ILB who can run and cover and that seemed to sell him on the program.
