Evaluation:

Louisville requires their Safeties to cover slot receivers and Tight Ends so getting a big corner who can play the ball well is really good for this staff. Oliver has great size at 6-2/195 and he will likely add a bit more bulk while keeping his athleticism. In my opinion, he fits perfectly in the Strong Safety role that Russ Yeast will be vacating. He can cover in man situations or he can play the deep Safety role when teams look to overload the short side of the field.

Summary:

Oliver gets a bit overlooked because Ben Perry is so highly rated and this class was built so quickly. I think it’s been forgotten that Oliver was once committed to Georgia before changing his mind and then picking Louisville. Oklahoma also went hard for Oliver before he made his choice. Landing a kid over playoff teams is what UofL needs to do to truly upgrade the talent on the team. Gunter Brewer and ShaDon Brown get the credit for Oliver who will arrive in January.
