Evaluation:

Louisville put a premium on bigger athletes in this class on the defensive side of the ball. Brown is every bit of 6-4 and has some real length to him. He’s already about 240 pounds and he says the staff feels that they can get him to 275 or so. Brown is a great fit for the strong side Defensive End spot that lines up on the short side of the field. He plays the run really well but he has the quickness to beat blocks and rush the passer as well.

The biggest upside factor with Brown is his length. He will be able to add bulk but the ability to hold off blockers against the run as well as setting the edge. I think Brown will see the field early in the Defensive Line rotation.

Summary:

Brown was one of the first commitments in this class. He was a bit of a surprise as he has a pretty absurd offer list and hadn’t visited campus. Brown is originally from New York so I don’t know that having offers from some of the top programs mattered as much as the relationships he’d forged with the staff and Noval McKenzie and Mark Ivey were able to leverage that over some of the other aspects of what most recruits look for.
