Louisville climbs to No. 6 in new AP poll

NCAA Basketball: Louisville at Duke Rob Kinnan-USA TODAY Sports

On the heels of its road wins over Pittsburgh and Duke, the Louisville men’s basketball team is up five spots to No. 6 in this week’s AP top 25 poll.

Despite winning a pair of games by a combined 73 points, Gonzaga fell from No. 1 to No. 2 in this week’s poll. The Zags were unseated at the top by Baylor, which becomes the seventh different team to grace the top of the poll this season. That ties the all-time record for most different AP No. 1 teams in a single season.

Also of note it that we now live in a world where Rutgers has a top 25 basketball team. The Scarlet Knights are No. 24 this week, marking their first appearance in the poll since 1979.
