Louisville Football Lands Cornerback Lovie Jenkins

The Cards flip the defensive back from Tennessee

NCAA Football: Eastern Kentucky at Louisville Jamie Rhodes-USA TODAY Sports

Louisville Football coach Scott Satterfield said that recruits that were committed elsewhere had reached out the staff after the Notre Dame game. He implied that those players were looking to join the fun after they watched the team and the atmosphere. Well, since then the staff has landed two such players. Lovie Jenkins flipped his commitment from Tennessee today joining his high school teammate, Dexter Rentz in the 2020 class.

Jenkins was a priority for the staff and he visited campus more than once this offseason. He took an official visit to campus in May but chose to commit to UT during an unofficial visit in June. He mentioned in his commitment tweet that his decision was rushed and that he felt that he belonged elsewhere. Jenkins scrubbed his Twitter account of all Tennessee stuff a handful of days ago, so it seemed like he was thinking of making this move for a bit.

Jenkins is a really good cover corner who broke up 15 passes last year and picked off 3. He also scored 4 total touchdowns as a junior. Jenkins has the speed to play corner and obviously has the coverage skills but it’s very possible that he could play safety at Louisville. Jenkins also returns kicks for his high school team and I know that he has at least one punt return for a touchdown so far this season.

Lovie is a composite three star recruit with too many offers to type out but Notre Dame, Missouri, Miami, and NC State stick out. Check out his highlights below.
