Thoughts: Edwards was a really good late pickup for the Cards on National Signing Day back in February. Out of Starkville, MS there was no way his talent was going to get missed by folks down in SEC country and LSU, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State were all after him. One thing Petrino used to always say that I agreed with was once you get a young man on this campus, showing him the big/little city of Louisville and what the University can offer, the success rate of getting a commitment is fairly high. While all that remains the same, we actually now have a staff that promotes those down home values and family atmosphere even more so than what we’ve seen previously, but that’s for another day.
Edwards can lay the wood but also has speed on the inside, shooting the gaps well and showing skill as a true tackler. I’m not sure Edwards will break into significant minutes behind Avery, Etheridge, and Holl this season but if he can put on a little size and learn the defense this year I say ‘mission accomplished’. We’ll all know his name soon enough.
“Coach Satterfield has impressed me because he is very family-oriented.”
