The Cardinal Countdown: 17 Days Until Kickoff

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: OCT 05 Georgia Tech at Louisville Photo by Michael Allio/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images

#17 Dorian Etheridge

Class: Junior

Ht/Wt: 6-3/231

Position: Linebacker

Hometown: Charleston, WV

Twitter: @D_Shmoney_17

Thoughts: Etheridge is going to be a big piece on the defensive side of the ball this year. Coach Brown needs bodies that have shown they can play at this level and Dorian has done it for two seasons in a row. I don’t need to post a ton about Dorian because even the casual fan knows the impact he has had since getting here. ACC Digitial Network picked out a few…

I could speak about last year, how Etheridge played well but I expected a bit more, how he likely feels this season will go, etc but why not let they guy tell you himself…

I think Etheridge will have a big season this year, playing the same position as previous years but one that takes on a slightly different role. If the defense is to improve at all Etheridge will need to get back to what he was doing as a freshman, making tackles and big impact plays. I said many, many, many weeks ago that GG was the key to the defense, and I haven’t changed my mind but Dorian is a close second. These guys may not put Louisville back into the Top 25 on that side of the ball this season but they will help get it moving in that direction.

#17 Will Warren

Class: Freshman

Ht/Wt: 6-2/235

Position: Quarterback

Hometown: Owensboro, KY

Twitter: N/A

Thoughts: I read Warrens measurables and initially typed “linebacker” as his position. Thought Coach Brown and Dennison pulled in another one but that 6-2/235lb young man is actually a quarterback, and a real good one.

Warren threw for over 3,200 yards and 38 touchdowns as a senior in high school. While listed as a “pro-style” quarterback I’d love to see Mr. Warren get outside the pocket some and lower a shoulder or two on some unsuspecting DBs.

While a bit stereotypical I have to say the kid from down in Owensboro can really “fling it”. Check out some clips below of Will letting it fly…

Sweet Tweet: No twitter for Will that I could find so kickoff your weekend with some of the best “big guy” plays in the sports world.
