Thoughts: I mentioned this in the Q&A I did with ‘Shakin The Southland’ yesterday but one of the advantages to have an early ‘spring’ camp is that the coaches not only got to move forward with the existing players, focusing on what lies ahead instead of dwelling on the past, but they also got to do a deep dive on their talent evaluation and determine what the areas of need were on this roster. After shifting a couple guys around with position changes and seeing what was left the staff saw a hole at linebacker that needed to be addressed. Before camp even closed TJ Holl had already visited and made a commitment to join the squad.

Holl comes to the Cards after finishing up his degree at Colgate (#RIP Colgate Clock), leading the….um, Fighting Toothbrushes Raiders as a first team All-American and was named the 2018 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year. The young man finished 2018 with 10.1 tackles per game and finished the year with 17 tackles for loss. He has good lateral speed but more importantly he has an eye for the ball and is a sure fire tackler. You can watch the film below to see some examples but the young man just does not let people get by him. The early chart showed Holl behind Etheridge on the inside and I think he will be a great addition to the inside backers group, bringing experience and depth.

Sweet Tweet:

I like guys that are built different, ready to come in and do work. Today marks 5 weeks exactly until they strap it up, and I could not be more ready.
