Thoughts: For the Cards to get Allen Smith, multiple things had to happen at just the right time and in just the right place. Previously committed to UNC Smith opened up his recruiting with the hiring of new Head Coach Mack Brown (go ahead and party like its 1999, UNC) in late 2018. The Cards then of course grabbed Satterfield a few short weeks later, and then the Cards also grabbed someone who had been targeting Smith for some time out on the West Coast in one Mr. Cort Dennison. Ten days after Dennison was hired Smith was on campus, and a few days later Dennison was in his house down in Georgia sealing the deal.
Not only was it great timing, but the Cards were extremely fortunate that in such a short time frame they were able to A. Evaluate talent. B. Identify areas of need. C. Determine who was still on the board to be recruited in those areas. D. Find guys in that group who actually fir their system. So does Smith fit in their system???
Coach Brown is looking for guys on the outside who have speed [check], can play coverage [check], aren’t afraid of contact [check], and can finish the play [check]. Smith can do all four, and do them well. After suffering a season ending injury five games into his senior year Smith is still working his way back to 100% but in my opinion will be in the two deep by the time fall camp concludes.
Take a peek at Smith laying the wood on some folks during his junior year. There some “why did you have to do my little baby like that” type hits in this clip.

These kids and their “drip” nowadays. I rolled to prom in a 95’ Cavalier 4 door, and a tux from the J-Mall. Get on my level.
