2018-19 LCPT Semifinals: Bobby Petrino vs. Matt Bevin

Let’s do it.

BOBBY PETRINO

HOW THEY GOT HERE:

—Defeated the NCAA 64%-36% in the quarterfinals

RAP SHEET:

—Trying to repeat Steve Kragthorpe’s 2009 feat of winning the LCPT the summer after he was fired.

—Was fired on Nov. 11 in the middle of one of the worst Louisville football seasons of all-time. The Cardinals would finish the season 2-10 and become the first Power Five conference team ever to allow 50 or more points in five straight games.

—Stories since Petrino’s firing have revealed that his staff wasn’t making much of an effort to recruit locally and that Petrino’s players had little access to their head coach.

—Blocked half of Louisville’s fan base (hand raised) on Twitter.

vs.

MATT BEVIN

HOW THEY GOT HERE:

—Defeated Dan Dakich 69%-31% in the quarterfinals.

RAP SHEET:

—Governor of Kentucky making his first appearance in the LCPT.

—Congratulated Kentucky’s men’s basketball team for making the Elite Eight but failed to do the same for the Louisville women, prompting him to be called out by Jeff Walz.

—Eventually did congratulate the ladies, but shouted out U of L president Neeli Bendapudi and not Walz.

Said after the tournament that Louisville lost to UConn in the Elite Eight because of Walz’s “silliness” and said he was “out-coached” by UConn’s Geno Auriemma. Offered no explanation for why the Kentucky men were upset by Auburn in the same round.

You’ve got 24 hours to send one to the finals.
