2018-19 LCPT Quarterfinals: Ken Langford vs. Brian VanGorder

Only one can advance to the least cool final four.

Two are already through to the uncool Final Four. Two will join them.

Let’s do it.

KEN LANGFORD

—Ejected Louisville closer Michael McAvene in the 9th inning of Louisville’s regional tournament win over Indiana. McAvene had said “that’s horrible” after Langford had called a borderline pitch a ball.

—The ejection meant McAvene was automatically suspended for four games without the possibility of an appeal. This left McAvene unable to even sit in the dugout during Louisville’s super regional series against East Carolina.

vs.

BRIAN VANGORDER

—First year defensive coordinator who oversaw the worst Louisville defense of all-time and one of the worst defenses in the history of Power Five conference football.

—In the 100th year of U of L football, the 2018 Cardinal defense set school records for points allowed, yards allowed, and average yards per play allowed (6.88).

—Under Vangorder, Louisville became the first Power Five conference team in history to allow 50 or more points in five consecutive games.
