—The first night of the MLB Draft saw Louisville first baseman Logan Wyatt selected by the San Francisco Giants with the 51st overall pick. It would be a shock if multiple Cardinals didn’t hear their names called on night two.
—Four-star quarterback Chubba Purdy (CHUBBA PURDY!) had great things to say about Louisville after his official visit.
“I heard nothing but great things about the whole city and campus, so I figured it was going to be a great visit,” Purdy told Cardinal Authority. “Well, the facilities were as great as everyone had told me and the stadium was as well. Overall, it was an amazing visit.”
Purdy and his parents spent the weekend with the U of L staff and several other official visitors. He toured the facilities, spent time with the coaching staff - including head coach Scott Satterfield and quarterbacks coach Frank Ponce - and went to Churchill Downs’ night racing with the staff.
“The whole staff and all of there coaches were great,” Purdy said. “Me and my family really loved it there. It really could feel like home.”
When asked what he thought of Satterfield, Purdy responded with “Oh my gosh, he’s an amazing dude.”
He said his one-on-one chat with Satterfield was really helpful in the recruiting process and building a relationship with the U of L staff.
“He was really real with me and my family and everything he said was true,” Purdy said. “I would love to play for him one day.”
I’ve never needed anything more than I need Chubba Purdy to come to Louisville and play quarterback.
—The new college football bowl tie-ins have been revealed, and the ACC now has an attachment to the Holiday Bowl, which could be cool.
—”Rogue assistant” season is back, and USC is getting ahead of the curve and blaming all of its issues on former assistant Tony Bland.
—If you’re wondering what former Kentucky DB basketball player Terrence Jones is up to these days, it’s punching dudes in the junk, dancing, and then getting clotheslined and watching that dude dance moments later.
Shocking to see this sort of behavior from someone who once stomped a homeless man during his time in the NBA.
—The U of L women’s basketball team is headed to the Virgin Islands in November for the Paradise Jam. The event has an absolutely stacked field this year that includes reigning national champ Baylor and fellow Final Four participant Oregon.
—A nation mourns/celebrates on the day after Jeopardy James’ shocking defeat.
—The kids (and Fresh) are on campus.

—The Louisville Zoo is asking the public to help name its new bongo calf. I’m gonna have to go with Chubba Purdy.
—Better than the actual football team.
So Miami’s pitchers do this when the team takes the field and it’s excellent.

It may be possible that Miami’s baseball team is better at football than its football team. pic.twitter.com/qhE6Vmj3L3
—WDRB has the images of the weekend from Jim Patterson Stadium.
—Grit and great pitching got Louisville back to the super regionals for the sixth time since 2013.
—And finally, Athlon has Louisville at No. 6 in its updated college hoops rankings for 2019-20.
Kentucky is No. 1. I disagree.
