Louisville added another player to the roster today as Ty Tyler decided to join the Cardinal defense as a grad transfer. Tyler left Marshall as a grad transfer after posting 21 career tackles for loss and 13.5 sacks. Tyler is a defensive end who went to Marshall as an outside linebacker prospect.
Louisville lost some depth up front with Jon Greenard transferring to Florida and Mike Boykin entering the transfer portal. Tyler should provide really good depth and he has the potential to be a starter for the defense. This looks to be a great fit for both sides of this transfer as Tyler should be able to show that he is more than just a pass rusher while Louisville gets a guy with developed pass rushing skills and experience.
Tyler visited Louisville ahead of the big May 31st weekend that helped them land a handful of guys over the last two weeks. There were rumors that he was ready to make the call at that time but wanted to take the rest of his visits. After a few weeks he decided to join Bryan Brown’s defense.
Louisville needed some help to shore up some of the roster issues and they’ve done well to add some experienced guys that at the very least can add depth. Tyler might just be the best out of all of the guys they added and could become a key player for the defense.
