Scott Satterfield landed his first marquee commitment today when four star quarterback Chubba Purdy committed to the Cards. Purdy is a dual threat guy out of Arizona that only took one official visit and spent it here with Satterfield and his staff. Purdy made it known after his visit that he was extremely impressed with everything Louisville had to offer. He then took unofficial visits to Purdue, Michigan State, and Kansas State before surprising everyone last night by saying that he would be committing today.
I don’t remember another high level recruit like Purdy that kept people in the dark as well as he did. But maybe that one official visit was all it took. Chubba is ranked as the 214th best player in the country per the 247 composite and he is ranked as the 6th best dual threat QB. He threw for 3,425 and 36 touchdowns last year while running for 1,125 yards and 23 touchdowns. He can do just about anything that the offense asks of him and it looks like he actually has some room to grow.
Scott Satterfield made it known when he was hired that he wants to have five quarterbacks on the roster and this addition would get him here if everyone sticks around. He now has commitments from Purdy as well as Tee Webb who is ranked as the 28th best pro style quarterback in the country. I don’t think the staff could ask for a much better start to fix the depth issues at Quarterback. They’ve added three guys that can execute the entire playbook and they will have great competition next year no matter how this season goes.
