Improbably, the 2019 Louisville baseball is rolling along.
Trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the 9th inning against a Mississippi State team that had been 47-0 when leading after eight innings this season, the Cardinals got back-to-back two strike hits from Danny Oriente and Drew Campbell to produce their first walk-off win of the postseason. In doing so, U of L opened the door for more postseason heroics in the days to come.

Louisville will now play their third straight elimination game Friday night against Vanderbilt. The Commodores defeated the Cardinals 3-1 on Sunday. A U of L victory would set up a second meeting between the pair on Saturday evening, with the winner advancing to the College World Series championship series.
Curses broken Thursday night:
—Louisville had never won more than one game at the College World Series.
—Mississippi State famously ended Louisville’s football and men’s and women’s basketball seasons with losses in 2017.
—The Bulldogs had been a perfect 47-0 when leading after eight innings this season.
—The Cards trailed 3-0 before I turned my hat around backwards in the 7th inning.
—You’re welcome.
That was so awesome. Let’s do it again in 24 hours.
