College World Series

No. 7 Louisville Cardinals (49-16) vs. No. 2 Vanderbilt Commodores

Time: 2 p.m. ET

Site: TD Ameritrade Park: Omaha, Neb.

TV: ESPN

Pitchers: Reid Detmers (12-4, 2.85 ERA) vs. Drake Fellows (12-1, 4.15 ERA)

Notable:

—Louisville just 2-8 all-time at the College World Series, but both wins came against SEC opponents on Father’s Day.

—Vanderbilt is 3-0 all-time in College World Series opening games, including a 5-3 win over Louisville in the first game of the 2014 CWS for both teams.

—The Commodores have won at least two games in all three of their CWS trips.

—Louisville is the only team at the College World Series that ranks in the top 30 nationally in runs per game (13th), earned run average (18th) and fielding percentage (29th).

—Vanderbilt has won 30 of its last 33 games and is a combined 8-1 against fellow CWS participants.

—Cardinal junior Jake Snider is 28-for-60 (.467) in 16 career NCAA tournament contests, and has hit three of his four career home runs in postseason play.

—Vandy leads the nation with 54 wins and is one victory away from setting a new single-season record for victories. The Commodores have already set school records for home runs (93), RBI (517), walks (359), runs (550) and strikeouts (704).

—Louisville owns a 2-2 record against fellow CWS participants.

—The winner of Sunday’s game will not receive the barrel trophy that goes to the winner of the annual “Battle of the Barrel” game between Louisville and Vanderbilt. The Commodores earned the barrel with a 6-2 win at Jim Patterson Stadium last month.

—In 2014, Louisville won the barrel but lost its CWS opener to eventual national champion Vandy.
