The Cardinal Countdown: 82 Days Until Kickoff

Thoughts: Keion is a local product who has had a rough go of it since arriving on campus. The slot receiver out of Male High School took a redshirt his freshman season but then suffered an unfortunate knee injury during the fall of 2017 and missed another full season before getting back to 100%. Wakefield finally got a chance to step onto the field last year and took advantage of that by seeing action in nine games. While only grabbing one ball last year (7yds) Wakefield played well enough to earn some more time and opportunities this year both lined up outside and potentially on special teams. Back in the Spring Satterfield said they were giving Wakefield some reps returning punts and he was doing well. Rodjay Burns was the return man for every single punt last season, all 13 of them, (They only forced 13 punts. Yikes.) but with his shift to linebacker they may be looking for another player to step up into that specialist role.

Best of luck to Boobie this year. Always like to see the hometown kids play well and be a good representative of the University. Satterfield has discussed it before but local recruiting needs to become a much bigger priority than it has been in the past. While these things go in cycles the talent depth in Louisville seems to be getting better year after year, and letting these young players that would be a great fit in your program go off to another Power 5 school is hopefully a thing of the past.

2. If you wake up early and you don’t have a job to go to or a kid to take care of, go see a doctor.
