A little over a week ago NC State came into the Yum Center and had the bad luck to catch Asia Durr on a 47 point night and got blown out. Today in the ACC semifinal we got the kind of dogfight we expected between these two top ranked teams.
In the first half Louisville fell behind by 10 points before going on a 19-0 run to end the half up by 10 points. However, the Wolfpack made their run and regained the lead in the third quarter. But in a game of runs Louisville had theirs at the right time and managed to get a little separation in the final five minutes of the game and punched their ticket to their second straight ACC championship game.

The senior trio had a big game today. Asia Durr led all scorers with 22 points to which she added 4 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists. Sam Fuehring had a double-double: 14 points, 12 rebounds. Arica Carter had 16 points and 3 assists.
After the game Coach Walz said, “I’m really proud of our group. It was a fun ballgame. We did some really good things and then we did some poor things.” He added, “It’s the fun time of the year. You’ve got to figure out a way to win.”
Unlike the recent meeting Asia Durr took awhile to get going. She made her first field goal with just over three minutes left in the first half. She said, “You aren’t going to make every shot. Everything’s not going to be pretty. You just have to stay patient. Trust the process. Trust the game plan.”

On the play of freshman Mykasa Robinson Coach Walz said, “I thought she changed the entire game. I mean the ENTIRE game. Her overall effort, her hustle at both ends of the floor....She has two turnovers and two steals and if you look at that you’re going ‘what in the world did she do?’ Well now she changed the entire complexion of the game for us.”

Louisville plays Notre Dame tomorrow at noon in a rematch of last year’s championship game. Coach Walz said of the rivalry, “I watch the fans go back and forth like they hate each other and then the kids all know each other and they’re actually friends. Now do they want to win when they step out on the court? Of course they do. But it’s fun to watch them compete.” The game is on ESPN2.
